I have tried to avoid making particular demands on peoples' browsers - in
particular, this site uses no javascript or plugins - but there are a couple
of things you may need to check :-
-
You can't login unless you have "Accept Session Cookies From This Site" enabled in your browser. Or,
more precisely, you can login as many times as you like, but it won't do you any good because it'll
promptly be forgotten - that's how the site remebers who you are, between requests. They're not used
for any other purpose.
-
The "edit tune" and "view tune" pages can include images of the tune in question. Some
browsers may default to speeding their workings up by using cached images - if you are editing a tune and
using "Show Image" to check your work it's disconcerting if the image isn't refreshed each time.
So if you're making changes in a tune and they don't seem to be showing up in the images, check your browser
settings. I discovered this using Opera, where the relevant option is under "Tools/Preferences/Advanced/History
(Check if cached page is updated on the server - Check images = Always)". I daresay many other browsers have an
equivalent.
-
Downloads - The "Download" selector/button thingy offers these tunes in a variety of easy-to-digest formats.
These are downloaded as their apropriate mime-types, which you can use to tell your browser to hand them off
to other programs to do something useful with - send midi into a player, etc. Consult your browser on
"Helper Applications" to find out more. The types are :-
- ABC :- text/vnd.abc
- PS & EPS :- application/postscript
- PDF :- application/pdf
- Midi :- audio/midi
-
The Diplay Configuration options include an offer to open the editor page in a new window. Your browser may have
opinions about how, or whether, to handle such a request.
